At Contemporary Family Dental, we offer several forms of cosmetic treatment to choose from. If you’re not sure or only vaguely have an idea of what you’d like to do, we can perform an oral examination and make recommendations.
Here’s how 5 cosmetic dental procedures can benefit your life and what each one involves.
Cosmetic dentistry can seem intimidating at first if you don’t know which procedure you should pursue. However, when you settle on one (or multiple), it can be life-changing. Simply seeing yourself in the mirror with new veneers or brighter teeth can give you a much-deserved confidence boost.

The main goal of cosmetic dentistry is to improve the appearance of your teeth and gums. It is widely accepted by our dentists and beyond that this form of dentistry is both an art and a science. We use our expertise to listen to your concerns, design your ideal smile, and transform your look. Whether you need a chipped tooth fixed or straighter teeth, we’ve got you covered with a smile makeover.
Do you want your teeth to be a few shades brighter to fix stubborn stains? Professional teeth whitening can accomplish just that with an in-office and at-home option. Before getting started, one of our cosmetic dentists will conduct a brief consultation with you to determine which option works best for your smile. Certain factors such as the presence of braces or existing tooth sensitivity may affect your eligibility for the treatment.

The in-office method is completed in one appointment and provides immediate results. On the other hand, the at-home treatment is more gradual but does give you increased control over how bright you want your teeth. We will supply you with custom trays and teeth whitening gel should you choose the at-home option.
Regardless of which type of whitening you decide to go with, tooth discoloration from years of drinking coffee, wine, and tea will be a thing of the past. Goodbye stains, hello pearly whites!
If you are insecure about crooked teeth and want to straighten them without metal wires or brackets, Invisalign may be for you. Invisalign consists of multiple stages of clear aligners that gradually move your teeth little by little. They work in a similar manner as traditional braces but are nearly invisible and removable. Choosing Invisalign allows patients to avoid a restricted diet, brush and floss normally, and see results in as little as 12 months.
Both teens and adults can qualify for clear aligner treatment though ultimately, the decision to move forward will depend on the severity of orthodontic issues and willingness to commit to the process. For example, while the aligners are removable, they must remain in place for 20-22 hours a day or your progress may be negatively affected.
For severe discoloration, chips, gaps between teeth, and more, our cosmetic dentists will recommend porcelain veneers. Dental veneers are thin, custom-made “shells” that fit over the front of teeth for a seamless smile. Because some natural tooth enamel does need to be removed for the permanent placement of veneers, you should be sure of your decision to pursue them as enamel won’t return after it is lost. If you feel embarrassed by your teeth and want a long-term solution, veneers may be right for you.
No this doesn’t involve makeup and defined cheekbones. Cosmetic contouring as a dental procedure involves removing some amount of enamel to change the shape, size, and length of your teeth. During a single appointment, our dentists will use a special laser or drill to remove the enamel and reshape teeth until you’re satisfied. Teeth will then be polished, and you’ll be on your way with immediate results. Enamel contains no nerves, so you won’t feel pain during the dental contouring procedure, but please don’t hesitate to let us know if you experience any discomfort.
Using composite resin (tooth-colored putty), cosmetic bonding can repair chipped, cracked, misshapen, gapped, and discolored teeth in a single appointment. Bonding can even be used as an alternative to orthodontic treatment assuming there are no significant issues with teeth or jaw alignment.

Our dentists will start by using a shade guide to determine which color of resin will match your natural enamel best. The surface of your tooth will then be etched, and a light layer of conditioning liquid will be applied to create a strong bond for the resin. We’ll then mold and shape the composite resin onto the tooth and harden it with an LED light.
